The Accounting Associate will play an essential role on the Accounting team, responsible for managing various aspects of financial transactions and records. Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy will ensure the smooth flow of financial information and contribute to the overall financial integrity of our organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Cash Management:

  • Manage daily cash deposits by receiving and posting customer checks and ACH payments daily.  
  • Assists in preparing bi-weekly payment runs.

Accounts Receivable: 

  • Enter and review customer invoices in the accounting system, verifying against production reports. 
  • Generate and handle monthly customer statements and distributions to maintain clear communication with clients.

Accounts Payable: 

  • Process vendor invoices, ensuring accurate data entry and documentation. 
  • Maintain and balance records, schedule payments, and verify data for disbursements.
  • Reconcile vendor accounts and resolve discrepancies.

Journal Entries and Reconciliations:   

  • Prepare and post general journal entries monthly and at year-end.
  • Assist in monthly balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure timely resolution of outstanding items. 

Audit Support:

  • Provide assistance in preparing accounting material for external audits, ensuring accurate and organized documentation. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience in an Accounting Department. 

Skills and Abilities Necessary to Succeed:

  • General understanding of GAAP.
  • Must be detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Analytical, problem-solving approach.
  • Sage Intacct experience or comparable accounting software experience, a plus.
  • Ability to quickly learn new programs and technologies such as such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and similar programs. 
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

Physical Requirements:

  • The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and use their hands to handle paper. This position requires that the employee be present for work at the designated time and place and that the employee be seated for the majority of the workday, although may occasionally be required to stoop or kneel.   
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
