Alaska Increases Licensing Fees under Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act

Alaska adopted rules increasing the licensing fees under the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SFEMLA). Under the adopted rules, the fees for initial licensing and renewal of a license are increased. In addition, the adopted rules set forth the registration requirements for exempt depository institutions voluntarily registering with the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development for the purposes of sponsoring a mortgage loan originator under the SFEMLA. The registration requirements are substantially similar to the licensing requirements for mortgage lenders. The adopted rules become effective January 1, 2017.
