The CFPB issued an interim rule to amend the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). The interim rule requires debt collectors to provide written notice to delinquent tenants under the CDC temporary eviction moratorium and prohibits misrepresentations about tenants’ eligibility for protection under the moratorium. The interim rule is effective May 3, 2021.
