FHA Extends 203(h) Mortgage Insurance Eligibility Period for Disaster Victims of Specific Presidentially-Declared Major Disaster Areas in Louisiana

FHA issued Mortgagee Letter 2017-10, extending the 203(h) mortgage insurance eligibility period for disaster victims located in specific presidentially-declared major disaster areas (PDMDAs) in Louisiana. To be eligible for 203(h) mortgage insurance, the mortgage insurance application must be submitted within one year of the date the PDMDA is declared, unless an additional period of eligibility is provided. The Mortgagee Letter extends the period of eligibility to September 8, 2017 for the following PDMDAs: Louisiana Severe Storms and Flooding (DR-4263) declared on March 13, 2016; and, Louisiana Severe Storms and Flooding (DR-4277) declared on August 14, 2016.
