The District of Columbia passed a bill authorizing remote online notarizations and establishing requirements for the performance of remote online notarizations. A remote online notarization is a notarial act performed for an individual who is not in the physical presence of the notary public who performs the notarial act. The bill went into effect September 21, 2022.
