Massachusetts passed a bill authorizing remote online notarizations and establishing requirements for the performance of remote online notarizations. A remote online notarization is a notarial act performed for an individual who is not in the physical presence of the notary public who performs the notarial act. The bill also established requirements for electronic notarizations. The bill becomes effective June 27, 2023.
