Rhode Island passed a bill amending the General Laws Licensed Activities Act (GLLAA) governing prepayment of mortgage loans on real estate containing dwelling houses of not more than 4 dwelling units. Under the bill, the GLLAA modified the applicability of existing prepayment penalty limitations to apply only to owner-occupied properties. The bill went into effect June 26, 2026.
